Sunday in St Barth in 9 Photos

It’s another way to see St Barth — when the streets of Gustavia are quiet and you seemingly have the whole island to yourself. Our latest Meet the Caribbean feature takes you through the island of St Barth on a Sunday, when you have the entire island to yourself. Why not try it next weekend?

St Barth’s famous airport, one of the most, let us say, gripping landings anywhere in the world, is one way to get to the island.

Of course, there’s always the beautiful harbour of Gustavia, home to megayachts and small cruising boats.

Once you get into town, you’ll get to explore the Sunday calm of one of the more charming towns anywhere in the Caribbean.

Gustavia is full of classic French Caribbean creole architecture, marked by the signature red roof.

And yes, St Barth is home to its own rum. It’s called Rhum St Barth. It’s the brainchild of football star Mikael Silvestre, who currently plays for the Portland Timbers of MLS. While the rum is made in Guadeloupe (St Barth has no sugar cane production), it’s as St Barth as it gets. And perfect in a Ti’ Punch.

If you decide to leave town, you can explore the surprisingly lush landscape of St Barth — a cornucopia of green palms, green hills and turquoise water. And better yet, the roads are largely empty.

Drive to the far southeastern tip of the island and you’ll find the beautiful Toiny Beach (just down from the hotel with the same name), a haven for surfers.

If you don’t feel like surfing, the views will do just fine, though.

The perfect way to end the day is at another beach: the beautiful St Jean.

See you in St Barth!
