Dominica Prime Minister Visits Martinique

Serge Letchimy, president of Martinique’s Regional Council, held talks on Tuesday with Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

The talks focused on green energy in the Caribbean in general and geothermal energy in particular.

The latter has been a major priority for Dominica, which is currently developing a geothermal project in the Roseau Valley.

Skerrit led a high-level delegation to Martinique for an official visit to the country.

According to a statement from Dominica’s government, the talks also covered areas including security, health, agriculture, education and culture.

Skerrit was to address Martinique’s Regional Council on cooperation projects in geothermal energy between the two neighbouring islands.

Skerrit was joined on the trip by Minister of Lands, Housing, Settlements and Water Resource Management, Reginald Austrie, Minister of Public Works, Energy and Ports, Rayburn Blackmore,and Secretary to the Cabinet, Ambassador Steve Ferrol.
