5.2M Earthquake Shakes Nicaragua

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake shook the western coast of Nicaragua on Friday morning, according to the United States Geoloigical Survey.

The quake’s epicentre was around 14 kilometres south-southwest of Masachapa, and about 61 kilometres south-southwest of Managua.

The quake struck at around 8:36 AM local time in Nicaragua.

There were reports of light shaking across the country, with the strongest shaking reported around Managua, with reports of weak shaking along the country’s southern coast.

There were not yet any reports of damage or injuries resulting from the quake.
