Aruban artist Elisa Lejuez has kicked off her latest solo exhibition at the S Artspace Gallery in New York City’s SoHo neighbourhood.

The exhibition, which is called “We kiss the joy as it flies,” officially launched on March 20.

It is the second solo exhibition for Lejuez in the United States, featuring a collection of mixed media techniques, blending the “shapes, patterns and colours that incorporate her global heritage,” according to the gallery.

“In her work, you will explore a world of shapes, patterns and, colors that incorporate her global heritage; the Dutch Caribbean islands, the Netherlands, China, Africa and India,” according to the gallery.

“I’m engaged in a spiritual quest, a secular search for wholeness and see my process of making art as a kind of meditation,” Lejuez says.

The exhibition is “strongly inspired by Zen teachings and the basic principles of Buddhism,” according to the artist.

Lejuez’s work will be on display at the S Artspace Gallery until April 2, followed by a brief four-day exhibition starting the next day at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea.
