The Sailrock project on South Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands has broken ground on the next phase of its development, the Great House at Sailrock.

Turks and Caicos Governor Peter Beckingham was on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.

Great House at Sailrock is the focal point of the development, which is located on an 800-acre peninsula on the island.

The property will ultimately include 66 “ridge-top” one and two-bedroom suites, along with 14 beach villas and nine Sound Villas.

South Caicos, which is about 40 miles southeast of Providenciales, has about 900 residents, and is accessible by both sea and air.

InterCaribbean Airways, formerly Air Turks and Caicos, recently announced the addition of additional service to the island.
