Jamaica Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is attending this week’s CARICOM Heads of Government conference in St Vincent and the Grenadines, her office announced.
Simpson Miller, who is currently the chairman of CARICOM’s Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on External Negotiations, will reportedly deliver an update on external trade issues for the region.
Simpson Miller is being joined by a delegation including Foreign Minister Senator AJ Nicholson, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister Onika Miller; Jamaica’s High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago, Sharon Saunders and other “technical, support, security and communications staff,” according to the Office of the Prime Minister.
The conference lasts from Sunday to Tuesday; Simpson Miller will be returning to Jamaica on Wednesday.
Jamaica’s Works Minister, Omar Davies, will be in charge of the government in her absence.
