Another Earthquake Causes Light Shaking in Puerto Rico

Another light earthquake struck in the Mona Passage between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on Friday evening, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The 3.9-magnitude quake came one day after a 4.7-magnitude quake in the same region.

The quake occurred around 127 kilometres north-northeast of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and about 220 kilometres northwest of San Juan, Puerto Rico, at a depth of about 43 kilometres.

It occurred at around 10:50 PM local time, according to the USGS.

There were reports of shaking in Puerto Rico, although there were no reports of damage or injuries.

It was the latest moderately-sized quake in a seismically active region in the Caribbean.
