The government of Antigua and Barbuda is set to launch what it is calling a “major” new information and communication technology initiative.

The multimillion-dollar initiative, which is called the Human Entrepreneurship and Assistive Resource Technologies project, is a partnership with telecom firm LIME.

As part of the project, LIME said it would be deploying “cutting-edge new wireless technologies that will solidify Antigua and Barbuda’s position as the ICT capital of the Caribbean.”

In a statement, the government said HEART was a “multi-faceted” ICT project; HEART will largely focus on developing entrepreneurship and cultivating the startup community on the island.

The twin-island country has been working in recent years to develop its ICT sector, from hosting “Digital Villages” to distributing tablet computers.
