Bermuda Reports Drop in Crime

Crime in Bermuda continues to fall, according to data released by the Bermuda Police Service.

For the first time in five years, all major crime categories are on the decline, the force said, with total crime down 12.8 percent last year compared to 2012.

Crimes against the person fell by 9 percent, the force said, while crimes against property fell by 8 percent in the same period.

Overall, 2013 saw the lowest crime rates in the last 14 years in Bermuda.

There were a total of 5 murders on the island last year, three of which were firearm-related.
