Haiti’s Ministry of Tourism has signed an agreement with Mexico’s Anahuac University on academic, scientific and technological cooperation.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two sides will cooperate through different tourism training programmes offered by the University.

The agreement will also see Ministry of Tourism personnel access training at the school through specialized classes and graduate degrees, the Ministry said.

It has also been proposed to hold training courses in both Mexico and in Port-au-Prince.

“When Haiti displays great efforts to position itself as a tourist destination, it is imperative that those called upon to welcome tourists are highly trained to provide the best service,” Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin said. “Thanks to this cooperation agreement, Haitians may come to take courses in Mexico which has experience in tourism — and Anahauc University is one of the best training centres to achieve this objective.”

Haiti’s Ambassador to Mexico, Guy Lamothe, signed the agreement on behalf of Villedrouin.
