St Kitts and Nevis has officially established diplomatic relations with Indonesia.

The two sides signed a joint communique to that effect in New York last week, with Ambassador Delano Bart QC and His Excellency Desra Percaya signing on behalf of St Kitts and Nevis and Indonesia, respectively.

In a statement, the government of St Kitts and Nevis said both countries would “be able to foster friendship and cooperation.”

St Kitts and Nevis’ government has been making an effort to deepen ties with the Eastern Hemisphere, with particularly strong investment ties with Middle Eastern states like the United Arab Emirates.

Indeed, a Dubai-based firm is developing the country’s high-profile Park Hyatt project on St Kitts’ Southeastern Peninsula.
