Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller will make an official visit to Cuba this weekend, officials said.

Simpson Miller will be meeting with Cuban leader Raul Castro to discuss “regional and international issues,” according to Information Minister Sandrea Falconer.

The two sides will also discuss the upcoming CARICOM/Cuba Summit, which will be held for the fifth time later this year.

“The leaders will explore issues of intra-regional trade, sustainable development, science and technology, climate change, natural disasters, transportation, and social development, among other issues,” Falconer said in a government release.

This year’s summit will be held in Havana next week under the theme of “The struggle against hunger, poverty and the inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
