Parts of central Haiti were lightly shaken by a 3.3-magnitude earthquake early Monday morning, according to data from the United States Geological Survey.
The quake’s epicentre was about 6 kilometres south-southwest of Carrefour and 13 kilometres southwest of Port-au-Prince, according to the USGS.
The shaking, which struck at 1:56 AM local time, occurred at a depth of 14.1 kilometres.
The most reports of shaking were in the Petion-Ville neighbourhood of Port-au-Prince, while there were also reports of shaking in Delmas, Port-au-Prince and Verrettes, along with reports of weak shaking east of Saint-Marc.
There were not yet any reports of damage or injuries.
As a point of comparison, the devastating earthquake in January 2010 had a magnitude of 7.0 on the Richter scale.
