Grenada’s National Disaster Management Agency has begun efforts to provide relief for St Vincent, St Lucia and Dominica, which suffered from serious storms over the Christmas holiday.

The NADMA has activated a bank for donations and is readying a 40-foot container of goods for shipment to St Vincent. The shipment is slated for Jan. 13.

Grenada said the government of Trinidad and Tobago would be providing transportation for the container of goods.

Grenada has also established a four-member committee including members from NADMA, the Grenada Red Cross, LIME and the Rotary Clubs of Grenada.

The government said it was seeking mattresses, toiletries, and foodstuffs from the public.

“It has been a very difficult holiday season for all concerned, and the images that have come back have broken all of our hearts,” said Grenada Social Services Minister Delma Thomas.
