Dominica’s government has received a new infusion of budgetary support from the European Union.

The latest funding is in the amount of $3.27 million from the EU, the second tranche of a total of about $11.5 million USD it will ultimately receive.

The country received the first fixed tranche of about $4.35 million in November after it fulfilled a series of conditions on its Growth and Social Protection Strategy.

The funding is supporting that strategy, which aims to generate job-producing growth and reduce poverty in the country.

The new funding will go towards enhancing several areas, including community tourism, geothermal energy production training and water distribution.
