St Vincent and the Grenadines has completed construction on the terminal building for the Argyle International Airport, which is projected to open at the end of this year.

The project was built at a cost of $28 million, according to Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves. When completed, the airport will be able to receive large international jets.

The terminal building was officially handed over from the Overseas Engineering Construction Company to the International Airport Development Company on Tuesday.

The building will be retrofitted within the next six months, Gonsalves said.

The project is being built in large part through support from the government of Taiwan.

Taiwanese Ambasador Weber Shih said the project was a “tangible indication of the strong ties between St Vincent and the Grenadines and Taiwan.”
