St Kitts and Nevis Gets Christmas Boost From Cruise Ships

More than 35,000 cruise passengers visited St Kitts over the Christmas holiday, according to data from the Marine Division of the St Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority.

The cruise boost began on Dec. 23 with the arrival of the Celebrity Summit; the largest single berth came from the Star Clipper, with a total of 4,158 passengers.

The largest single day was Dec. 27, when 7,680 passengers visited Port Zante from three ships.

The Queen Mary 2 docked in the capital on Dec. 27, bringing 2,572 passengers.

The twin-island federation’s government expects around 15 new cruise ships to visit St Kitts in the 2013/2014 season, with an ultimate projection of 650,000 total passengers.
