The Baha Mar resort project in the Bahamas has begun a major recruitment effort, reaching out to more than 6,000 Bahamian students and professionals both at home and abroad.

The Baha Mar Academy hosted a recent mixer for Bahamian students and professionals in New York City, along with recruitment efforts in the rest of the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The project, which is slated for completion next year, is the largest in the Caribbean region.

“Baha Mar has a culture where people have a passion for being better than best, no matter their position,” said Kristin Wells, director of the Baha Mar Academy and acting representative of the property’s flagship Baha Mar Casino & Hotel. “While we are looking for skills to fit all levels of the company, we’re really looking for people who are friendly, pay attention to details, thrive as part of a team, and have a heart for hospitality.”

So far, the resort said more than 8,000 people have submitted resumes on its web site. The property said there would be “thousands of jobs” to be filled.

“Baha Mar is about taking the best of The Bahamas – our people and our culture – to the world, Wells said.
