The International Criminal Court has sworn in Trinidad native Geoffrey Henderson as a new judge.

Henderson was elected to fill a vacancy due to the resignation of fellow Trinidad native Judge Anthony Carmona, who resigned to serve as Trinidad’s current President.

Henderson’s previous experience includes a term as Director of Public Prosecutions and as a High Court Judge in Trinidad.

Henderson’s term will run through March 2021; he has been assigned to the Trial Division, where he will begin full-time service starting Feb. 1, 2014.

“I welcome you to the bench of the Court and I know that you will earnestly assume your role and meet the challenges that may arise”, ICC President Tiina Intelmann told Henderson.
The ICC has a total of 18 judges.
