Air carrier Fly Montserrat has begun operating service between Antigua and Nevis.

The flights, which began on Monday, could help fill the void left by LIAT, which suspended its Antigua-Nevis service during the holiday season.

“I want to say that today is in fact a very important day for us. We were, in a way, panicking initially when LIAT indicated that they will not be doing the Antigua-Nevis flight,” Nevis Premier Vance Amory said Monday. “I think it caused us some concern because we recognized the inconvenience which that would have caused for our people who travel south especially, but more especially for those persons who come in to Antigua and want to get to Nevis.”

Fly Montserrat is the latest carrier to launch service into the Vance Amory International Airport, along with Seaborne and Tradewind Aviation. (Both of those companies operate out of San Juan).

“It’s an absolute pleasure to be starting this service between Nevis and Antigua which I am sure is going to be hugely successful,” said Fly Montserrat CEO Captain Nigel Harris.
