Dominica and China have signed an agreement for $8.2 million in grant aid.

The deal was signed last week by Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and Chinese Ambassador to Dominica Wang Zonglai.

“This aid will be used for the implementation of projects to be agreed upon by the both governments,” said Careen Prevost, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement. “The specific banking arrangements and accounting procedures will be agreed upon between the Ministry of Finance of the Commonwealth of Dominica and the China Development Bank.”

The two sides have collaborated on a number of projects in recent years. They have had diplomatic relations since March 2004.
