Officials from the Dominican Republic and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights met Monday at the National Palace in Santo Domingo.

The meeting covered the recent constitutional court decision that mostly impacts Dominicans of Haitian descent; the government said the IACHR was in the country to “know the scope” of that judgment.

Leading the talks on behalf of the Dominican Republic was Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo; IACHR Preident Jose de Jseus Orozco led the talks on behalf of the regional body.

The meeting came a few days after the Dominican Republic released the details of its new citizenship policy.

The two sides will release a joint report on the results of the meetings on Friday.
