Haiti President Michel Martelly departed for Kingston Wednesday for a three-day official visit to Jamaica.

The visit will feature talks with Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, members of the Cabinet and private sector groups, among others.

Among the issues to be discussed include security, trade and investment, tourism, sport, culture and CARICOM aid to Haiti, according to Jamaican Information Minister Sandrea Falconer.

“In welcoming the visit of the Haitian President, the Prime Minister said it will serve to deepen the longstanding friendship that both countries enjoy,” Falconer said. “The strengthening of [the] relationship will enhance the ties and growth and development of both countries.”

Martelly and the Haitian delegation will leave the island on Friday.
