The British Virgin Islands has appointed Elise Donovan as director of the BVI House Asia, the territory’s regional office in Hong Kong.
Donovan, who will take over for interim director Lorna Smith, will promote BVI’s financial services, represent the territory in diplomatic settings and work on economic and cultural cooperation.
“As we continue to deepen our commercial footprint in Asia, Ms. Donovan will play a crucial role in promoting the BVI business in Asia-Pacific and in supporting the financial services industry and its growth in the region,” British Virgin Islands Premier Dr Orlando Smith said in a statement.
Donovan has previously worked with the BVI government and the BVI Financial Services Commission.
She is currently the executive director of the BVI International Finance Centre.
BVI House Asia was established in September to build closer ties with a region that accounts for nearly 40 percent of the BVI’s financial services business.
