Trinidad and Tobago Food Minister Devant Maharaj has announced the distribution of about $936,057 to farmers and fishermen in the country affected by flooding.

That amounts to about $6 Million TTD.

Maharaj distributed 112 checks to farmers affected by flooding and 178 checks to fishermen affected by bad weather conditions, according to a government statement.

So far this year, about $873,654 had been distributed to farmers and fishermen, Maharaj said.

Maharaj urged farmers to use more responsible farming and fishing methods, as opposed to those that leave them “more susceptible to flooding and adverse weather conditions.”
