Belize’s tourism sector got off to a record start at the beginning of 2013, and the trend has continued.
Belize recorded 215,234 tourist arrivals from January through August, an 8.7 percent improvement over the same period in 2012, according to data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization released earlier this month.
The summer saw a 7.2 percent increase, while the winter months showed a 10 percent improvement.
Last year, Belize recorded 277,136 tourist arrivals, according to CTO data, a 10.7 percent improvement over the previous year.
By comparison, Belize’s tourism sector grew by 3.5 percent in 2011.
