The Bahamas sent a ministerial delegation to Dubai last week, seeking “much needed new capital and investment,” the government said.

The delegation, which was led by Foreign Minister Fred Mitchell, included Financial Services and Trade Minister Ryan Pinder, Environment Minister Kenred Dorsettt, Grand Bahama Affairs Minister Dr Michael Darville, State Minister for Investment Khaalis Rolle and Senator Jerome Gomez, along with officials from a number of ministries.

It left late last week, according to the government.

The trade mission comes after a diplomatic trip made by Mitchell at the end of 2012 aiming to set up formal diplomatic ties between the two sides.

In a government release, Mitchell said the Bahamas had also made the decision to join the International Renewable Energy Agency, which is based in Dubai.

The trade mission is being paid for by the Dubai Committee for the World Expo 2020.
