Antigua and Barbuda will be receiving a $13.4 million loan from the Caribbean Development Bank.

The loan will help support Antigua’s efforts in the area of secondary education, as the country seeks to eventually provide universal secondary education.

The loan will also finance consultancy services for the design of an “Early Childhood Model Centre” and a new secondary school, according to the CDB.

The funding will also support expansion and renovation work at three secondary schools in Antigua and Barbuda.

The project will also provide for “the evaluation and reform of the teacher education programme in Antigua and Barbuda, the strengthening of resource allocation capacity, and a review and evaluation of technical vocational, education and training (TVET) capacity,” the CDB said.
