The new NH El Rancho hotel opens its doors Thursday in Haiti, begins welcoming guests Thursday.

The four-star property in Port-au-Prince’s Petion-Ville neighbourhood underwent a significant reconstruction.

Once one of Haiti’s most famous hotels, actually comprises two buildings; the recently-renovated east wing has 72 rooms, while the west part, which has not undergone a renovation, has 40 rooms.

It also has six conference rooms holding groups up to 275 people, according to the hotel. It finished construction in August.

It’s the debut for Spanish firm NH Hoteles in the country, and follows that of another Spanish hotel company, Occidental, which opened the Royal Oasis in Petion-Ville at the end of last year.

The official inauguration of the property will likely follow soon.
