New Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Minister Chandresh Sharma held talks last week with Tracy Davidson-Celestine, Tobago’s Secretary of Tourism, last week.

Davidson-Celestine said she hoped to continue the dialogue that had taken place between her office and former Tourism Minister Stephen Cadiz.

She said she was committed to the relationship between Tobago’s Division of Tourism and Transportation and both the country’s Tourism Development Company and the Ministry of Tourism.

Tobago’s government said Sharma gave his assurance that there would be “joint representation by both the Ministry and the Division.”

Among the issues discussed last week included the upgrade of Tobago’s ANR Robinson International Airport, Tobago House of Assembly representation on the TDC Board, the need to seek greater collaboration with Caribbean Airlines on scheduling domestic flights and “additional route development” for Tobago.

Tobago’s Tourism Division said the most pressing matter on the agenda was the country’s representation at the World Travel Market, which takes place in London in November.

A joint task force has reportedly been assigned to ensure a “unified approach” between the two islands at that conference.

“The delegation’s presentation at this event is crucial to maintaining Tobago’s visibility in the UK,” the Tourism Division said in a statement.
