Five Great Small Hotels in the Dutch Caribbean

They’re the ABC islands — Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. This Dutch Caribbean enclave at the southern tip of the Caribbean is a beautiful mix of European, Caribbean and international tastes, styles and customs. It’s also home to some beautiful small hotel properties (that is, with less than 50 rooms) — the kind that might be perfect if you’re in the mood to do some island hopping between the three neighbours. Here are five great ones in the ABCs. (Don’t miss the best Aruba hotels)

Boardwalk — Aruba

This charming, locally-owned group of Caribbean “casitas” is a world away from the larger properties typically found on the island.

Bellafonte Bonaire

This condominium hotel is directly on the ocean, giving you the chance to wake up, fall out of bed and dive or snorkel. (And yes, the Bellafonte comes from Harry Bellafonte, who one of the island’s most famous visitors who actually once owned the nearby islet of Klein Bonaire).

Scuba Lodge — Curacao

Bonaire may be the diving capital of the area, but Curacao has some serious diving — and Scuba Lodge is a relaxing retreat that doubles as a dive resort.

Harbour Village — Bonaire

This is Bonaire’s most luxurious property (and owner of one of the island’s nicest beaches) — a bit of the Mediterranean in the Caribbean.

Wonders — Aruba

This adults-only property (with just eight rooms) is a boutique hideaway in Oranjestad.
