CARICOM and Spain will be cooperating on a $1.1 million regional programme for 2013 to 2014.

The project will focus on youth and gender issues, along with youth entrepreneurship, according to a CARICOM statement.

Interventions under the project will focus on prevention of youth violence in schools and communities in five CARICOM Member States. The entrepreneurship programme will be in the form of you training through the Creative for Employment and Business Opportunity (CEBO) Programme in 10 CARICOM countries.

The two sides signed off on the agreement at the end of last month during talks between CARICOM and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development.

The $1.1 million will include both cash and in-kind contributions.
