It has been a big month for Puerto Rico’s film and television industry, with the island making its latest screen debut on the hit Showtime series “Homeland.”

Puerto Rico subbed for Caracas, Venezuela on Sunday night, where the fictional version of the CIA was running an anti-terrorist operation on the first episode of the season, led by the character Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend).

The scenes from Sunday’s episodes were filmed in Old San Juan, although more Puerto Rico locations could be reportedly be on the table for future episodes.

The island is being highlighted as a “remote island location” in another major release this month, the Ben Affleck-Justin Timberlake movie “Runner, Runner.”

Several major US television shows have filmed on the island in recent years, including another Showtime series, “The Big C.” (The scenes in the latter were both shot and set in Puerto Rico).
