The air is cool and fresh, the sun is bright and the music never stops.

This is Dominica, which, in a short amount of time, has become of the Caribbean’s festival capitals.

Whether it’s music, food or all-out dancing, the island of just about 70,000 people is a magnet for festival tourism.

In March, Dominica Carnival gets started, bringing in revelers from across the Caribbean for the culmination of weeks of calypso competitions, with the festivities launching on March 2.

And in May, the celebrated Jazz and Creole Festival returns, with four days of special events and hospitality in Cabrits National Park on the northern end of Dominica.
