Dominican Republic’s Medina Meets With Former Prime Minister of Spain

Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina hosted former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero this week for a courtesy visit.

Discussions with Zapatero focused on “various political issues and the global economy,” the Dominican Republic’s government said in a statement.

Zapatero was leading a delegation to attend the meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly.

The Assembly. which was established in 2006, includes 150 members — 75 from the European Parliament and 75 from a group of Latin American regional parliaments.

The former Spanish leader highlighted what he called “bonds of brotherhood and friendship between Spain” and the Dominican Republic.

Zapatero served as Prime Minister of Spain from 2004 to 2011.
