10 Great Marinas in the Bahamas

IMAGINE this scenario: your long-lost uncle has passed away and left you a yacht and 3 million dollars!  But the will states you must cruise the Caribbean for at least 2-years…think about it!  Where do you start?  Which way to go?   There are hundreds, if not thousands, of great marinas, hideaways and anchorages throughout the Caribbean.   We’d start in the Bahamas work our way down to Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, The Virgins, The Leewards, the Windwards, The Lesser Antilles to Jamaica, Cayman, The Yucatan, then the Central American Caribbean coast and then home…maybe! Our new series will take you across the best marinas of the Caribbean, starting with the Bahamas.

Abaco Beach Resort & Boat Harbour Marina

There are more marinas in the Abacos than anywhere else in the Bahamas, and stopping here is almost a necessity.

Resorts World Bimini

This is actually the largest marina complex in all of the Bahamas — and there’s a new casino that’s a great place to take a break from the seas.

Bimini Big Game Club

Despite its small size, Bimini is a yachting hub in the Bahamas — meaning that it has two marinas meriting inclusion. Bimini Big Game Club is a Bahamian institution.

Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour — Grand Bahama

Often the first stop for US yachters heading to the Bahamas, this marina has a great location on the West End of Grand Bahama.

Atlantis Resort

If you have a megayacht, this is your marina. Straight out of Monte Carlo, this is where to bring your boat if you want to put on a show.

Great Harbour Cay Yacht Club & Marina — Berry Islands

This is actually one of the larger marinas in the Bahamian island chain, and it’s worth checking out one of the more off-the-beaten path destinations in the Bahamas.

Treasure Cay Hotel Resort & Marina

Another Abaco gem, Treasure Cay has a very large marina and there’s a lot to keep you occupied onshore.

Hawk’s Nest Resort & Marina — Cat Island

Laid back, quiet and remote — Cat Island is the perfect place to stop with your new boat.

Staniel Cay Yacht Club

You can’t sail the Bahamas without stopping in the Exumas, and the small-sized Staniel Cay Yacht Club has a newly-renovated marina.

Valentine’s Resort & Marina — Harbour Island

Take your boat to Harbour Island, which is just off the northeastern coast of Eleuthera. It’s known for its pink sand beaches, but the island’s Dunmore Town is a charming escape.
