A Beaches resort could soon be coming to Barbados.

Sandals Resorts International announced Friday that it was in “exciting discussions” with the government of Barbados to build a brand-new Beaches resort in the country.

The property would be located on the site of the former Almond Beach Village in St Peter, Barbados.

“While an agreement is yet to be finalized, commitments have been made on both sides and we are thrilled at the possibility of bringing the award-winning Beaches brand to this wonderful country,” Sandals Resorts International said in a statement. “We are a Caribbean company and firmly believe that no one understands the needs of the region or its people like we do.”

Beaches currently operates three all-inclusive properties in the region: one in Turks and Caicos and two in Jamaica.
