Guyana and Venezuela are mulling the establishment of an air link between the two countries on the CONVIASA carrier.
Venezuela-based CONVIASA has the capacity to transport 70 passengers twice weekly, the government said.
That was revealed following the fifth meeting of the Guyana/Venezuela High-Level Bilateral Commission, which coincided with Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro’s visit to the country.
Following Maduro’s trip, Venezuela announced that it would be offering to help Guyana build capacity in the aviation area, including the training of technicians and flight operations inspectors.
Maduro has recently proposed the establishment of air links with all member states of the PetroCaribe initiative, although it’s not clear if this would fall under that umbrella.
