What makes going green in tropical climates a different kind of challenge?

That will be the subject of a first-of-its-kind conference this month held by the US Green Building Council’s South Florida Chapter.

The “Tropical Green” conference, which will be held on Sept. 20 at the Hyatt Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale, will examine best practices in design, construction, ownership, sustainability and conservation of resources in the Tropics.

“The importance of this forum is reflected in the experts who have agreed to share their experience and knowledge,” said Brian Lomel, volunteer chair of the Tropical Green conference. “We are so fortunate to have a truly impressive lineup of speakers, including Bruno Stagno, an architect who has gained worldwide recognition for his innovative approach to tropical design.”

Some of the featured topics will include sea level rise and impacts, the influence of natural light in tropical residences and hotels, green energy and energy conservation, among others.
