The Chinese government has signed an agreement to build a pair of new schools in Jamaica.

The new infant schools will be located in Kingston’s Tower Hill and St Thomas’ Morant Estate.

Foreign Minister AJ Nicholson signed the agreement this week during a visit by a Jamaican delegation led by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller to China.

China will build all the classrooms, playing rooms, outdoor corridors, playgrounds and other facilities, and will also be responsible for the design of the project.

The funding will be disbursed from grants as provided for under two Economic and Technical Cooperation agreements between China and Jamaica.
