St Kitts and Nevis has great potential as a tourism destination, Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou said during the conclusion of his two-day visit to the federation.

Ma was speaking during a visit to the Taiwan-backed Agro-Tourism Demonstration Farm, which is currently under construction.

“I can see that this great country has great tourism potential,” Ma said.
Ma pointed to the increase in popularity of tourist-focused farms in Taiwan, “because people cannot only watch the process of agriculture, but they can also bring about tourism values.”

“I believe that we should also promote this idea here,” said Ma, who began his visit on Sunday.

St Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan have already completed a greenhouse at the complex, while a tourist service centre, tea house and botanical garden are all under construction.

“Our two countries both have sugar cane, tropical trees and medicinal herbs,” Ma said. “If we can promote the research and tourism values of all these aspects, I believe that our two countries can work together to promote cultural and tourism values together so as to attract more tourists.”
