Haiti hosted its second-annual “Festival of the Sea” in Cap-Haitien this weekend.

The event, launched by the Ministry of Tourism’s regional office on northern Haiti, began on Friday on the Boulevard du Cap in Cap-Haitien.

This year’s festival, focused at Camp Louise, included a performance by T-Micky, while several Haitian artists received awards, including Daniel Lariviere, Nicole Levy and Daniel Fils-Aime.

The festival is the latest put forth by Haiti as a way to grow tourism, particularly at the regional level.

Last month, Haiti hosted its second-ever Carnival of Flowers in Port-au-Prince, another fete aimed at boosting tourism.

The Ministry of Tourism said events like the Festival of the Sea were a way to make tourist areas “more attractive.”

Some of the “most important tourist sites in the country” are concentrated in Cap-Haitien, the Ministry said in a statement.

The festival concluded on Sunday.
