Haiti Drops in FIFA Rankings, But Maintains Caribbean Lead

By the Caribbean Journal staff

Haiti fell 5 spots in the most recent FIFA rankings to 74th in the world, although that is still good enough for the top ranking in the Caribbean.

Jamaica, ranked 76th in the world, rose one spot this month to maintain its hold on second in the Caribbean.

Haiti’s drop coincided with a disappointing showing in the Gold Cup, in which it failed to qualify for the quarterfinals despite playing against mostly lower-ranked teams.

Trinidad and Tobago’s strong Gold Cup showing, on the other hand, catapulted it nine spots to 78th in the world and third in the Caribbean.

The Dominican Republic rose four spots to 86th in the world and fourth in the Caribbean.

Cuba is at fifth at 90th in the world.
