Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a vice president of Cuba’s Council of State and Ministers, held talks Sunday with Hassan Rohani, the new President of Iran in Teheran.
Cabrisas was in Iran’s capital this weekend to attend Rohani’s swearing-in ceremony.
In what a Cuban government statement called a “friendly atmosphere,” Cabrisas relayed greetings from Cuban leader Raul Castro.
Cuba’s government said Rohani expressed the willingness of the Iranian government to “strengthen the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation” between the two countries.
Rohani was sworn in as the new president of Iran at a ceremony on Sunday.
He took office following a victory in the country’s in mid-June.
