The Dominican Republic leads the Caribbean hotel construction pipeline, according to the most recent report from STR.

There are 2,475 rooms under construction in the Dominican Republic, the most in the region, followed by the Bahamas, which has 2,271 rooms under construction.

Next was Puerto Rico, with 709 rooms under construction, followed by Aruba, with 320 rooms, and Jamaica, with 238 rooms.

The report’s data covered the period through June 2013.

Mexico reported the most rooms under construction in the wider region, with 4,025.

The total active pipeline in the Caribbean and Mexico includes 131 hotels comprising 21,957 rooms.

The active pipeline includes rooms in the in construction, final planning and planning stages.
