Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou will be embarking on a Latin American and Caribbean tour next month.

The trip, which will begin Aug. 11, will take the Taiwanese leader to Caribbean countries including St Kitts and Nevis, Haiti, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Taiwan has been one of St Kitts and Nevis’ strongest allies in recent years, partnering with the twin-island federation on a host of projects, focused on green energy.

The main purpose of Ma’s trip is to attend the inauguration of Paraguay’s new President, Horacio Cartes, in mid-August.

Taiwan sent a trade mission to St Kitts last month.
