You’d expect that the birthplace of the Piña Colada would have some good bars, and that’s most definitely the case in San Juan. Of course, scholars say the Pina Colada was most likely born, not just at any bar, but at a hotel bar in — so we thought we’d offer a list of five hotel bars worthy of checking out in Puerto Rico’s capital.
Oasis Bar – Caribe Hilton
This is one of two places in San Juan said to be the home of the Piña Colada, and it doesn’t disappoint. (Of course, they serve other kinds of drinks, too).
Patio Bar – El Convento
This one is all about the setting — the El Convento has a lovely, old-fashioned courtyard, and the Patio Bar is the perfect place to take in the atmosphere.
KOCO at El San Juan
Enjoy Puerto Rico’s most popular spirit at this restaurant/bar at the El San Juan Resort & Casino.
Lobby Bar – La Concha Resort
The lobby at the La Concha in San Juan’s hip Condado district is quiet and comfortable by day, but by night it becomes a happening mix of locals and tourists.
Red Coral Lounge – San Juan Marriott
The Red Coral Lounge, which recently debuted after a renovation, is a top spot for the mixologically oriented. Don’t miss their Dragon Berry Mojito.
