Six Fun Things to Do in Grenada

It’s time to discover Grenada if you haven’t already. One of the pearls of the Eastern Caribbean, this island of 110,000 people has it all: beaches, history and the charm of the unexplored. Here’s a list of six fun things to do in Grenada, whether you’re just arriving on a cruise for the day or planning an extended vacation.

Explore St George’s

St George’s is considered the most beautiful port of entry in the Caribbean for cruise visitors, and it lives up to the hype. The mountainous town is fully of history and beautiful Georgian architecture.

Fish Friday

Each week, this celebration in the fishing village of Gouyave features music, dance and wonderful seafood.

Visit an underwater museum

The Grenada Underwater Sculpture Park is a sight to be seen (just make sure you bring your snorkeling or diving gear). Billed as the world’s first underwater sculpture gallery, features works from a range of artists led by underwater sculpture pioneer Jason deCaires Taylor.

Have a drink at Umbrella’s Beach Bar

Grand Anse is one of the Caribbean’s best beaches, and Umbrella’s is just the place to have a rum punch and enjoy the view.

The River Antoine Rum Distillery

The centuries-old River Antoine Rum Distillery in St Patrick is definitely worth the trip — it’s the oldest functioning water-propelled distillery in the entire Caribbean. Just be careful, the rum is some strong stuff.

Make the pilgrimage to Kirani James Boulevard

It may seem like an ordinary street, but this is the one named after Grenada’s sporting legend, Kirani James, who, at just 19 years of age, took home the country’s first-ever Olympic Gold Medal in London last summer.
