LIAT has agreed to increase its number of daily flights into Grenada to seven from five, the government said Thursday.

The increase comes after what the government said was a series of “strong appeals” by Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell for an expanded LIAT presence on the island.

“As of this month, LIAT has put on two extra flights per day. It was doing five flights per day, now we have seven”, said Senator Brenda Hood, parliamentary secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, to Parliament.

One of the flights is a 6:30 AM flight out of Port of Spain; the second is an 8:30 PM flight into Barbados.

“We are working with LIAT to see what can be done,” she said.
