Nestlé has inaugurated the expansion of its dairy factory in the Dominican Republic.
The factory, which produces Carnation Evaporated Milk, received a $12.9 million investment. It is located in the area of San Pedro de Macoris in the northeastern portion of the country.
“With this expansion, Nestlé is reaffirming its confidence in the country, and its commitment to national milk production,” said Claude Mamboury, head of Nestlé in the Dominican Republic. “We are strengthening our roots in San Francisco de Macoris. We are here to stay. Nestlé is a company that has always had a long-term perspective.”
The milk the company purchases from the Dominican Republic provides employment for around 4,500 people, the company said.
Nestlé has been producing Carnation at the plant site for more than 42 years.
The company also has a site at MadreVieja in San Cristobal, where Maggi brand products are produced.
